McFadden nets set-piece brace v Arsenal

February 23rd, 2008 | By: Ian Rose | No Comments »

Obviously, the most notable thing about this match had nothing to do with James McFadden. The horrible tackle on Eduardo, and the resulting leg break, is the main story. Best wishes to Eduardo and hopes that the FA consider the harshest of penalties for a possibly career-ending tackle.

But this is not the place to talk about that. This is a Scotland blog, after all, and for a Scotland NT fan, everthing AFTER the third minute was very good to see. James McFadden, the hero of the Stade de France, once again donned a halo, this time for Birmingham City. He scored on a free kick and a penalty to even up with Arsenal at 2-2. I would have loved to post the free kick, but all examples of it seem to have been erased from the interwebs. Thanks again, copyright cops.

Fads may be a new hero at St. Andrews Park, but us Scotland fans, we’ve known him for years. Your place in the Scotland squad is waiting for you, James. No worries there.
