Two weeeeeks …

God I love that movie. Anyway, the relevance of that clip, thin as it may be, is that in two weeks, Scotland is finally, FINALLY back in action, in the toughest World Qualifier of the whole campaign, away against the Netherlands. Manchester United keeper Edwin van der Saar (who apparently CAN be scored on), and the rest of the Oranje boys will be the sternest test of the qualifiers, and if we can manage even a point, it will go miles toward our quest for at least second place in the group, and a playoff for South Africa.

More later this week on this very big match. And huge apologies for my absence. It’s been a long, strange break from international football, with Scotland not playing together for months, and I’ve been distracted by the relegation fight of my club, Caley Thistle. But the Scotland WCB is back, and I’ll try to be better.

Mon the Scots.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink was called up to the Dutch squad for this match. Apparently, the Dutch are looking to be useless for 75 minutes and then be subbed off for their match in Scotland and are seeking Big Jan’s expertise on such tactics.

As a Caley fan, I’m well aware that Big Jan wasn’t always so useless, especially in the latter stages of a match, so I’ll still be wary of him. But yeah, I’d rather see him right now than some other Dutch options.
