Scotland falls one to #15

April 9th, 2008 | By: Ian Rose | No Comments »

No big surprises in the FIFA World Rankings announced today. Our draw with Croatia wasn’t enough to keep up the good points average of the last year, and so we ended up losing 16 points and one place, with Ghana jumping above us. The draw hurt our March opponents even more, though, with their score falling by 60 points. Portugal and the Netherlands both fell a spot as well, with Greece the big winner of the top ten, moving up from 10th to 8th.

The English remain in 11th place, so we’ve lost a place to them. Because of the weird details of the ranking system, Scotland should actually gain points next month, because an old loss will be erased, but who knows if that will do anything for us ranking-wise.

For now, it’s #15, and no chance to change that until May, and the tough trip to Prague.
