Scotland 0-0 Northern Ireland

August 20th, 2008 | By: Ian Rose | 1 Comment »

We needed better. Before one of the most promising World Cup qualifying groups in decades gets underway next month, we needed to see something better from our boys today. The Irish should be content with the draw - it seems to have been their goal all along - but we should not. Job well done to Allan McGregor for cleaning up his own mess - first drawing a penalty with his rush on Warren Feany, then facing down none other than David Healy (who else would take a NI penalty) and saving it. More to come later on this, but George Burley is still winless, and Hampden is still nowhere near the fortress it should be.
