Dailly news: Burley approves

March 11th, 2008 | By: Ian Rose | No Comments »

George Burley has not yet announced any of his roster for the March 26th friendly between Scotland and Croatia, but he came out this morning in support of one of the older members of the Scotland squad, Rangers defender Christian Dailly. With 66 caps, Dailly is sixth all-time in Scotland appearances, and the most-capped active player on the squad. He transferred to Rangers at the end of January, partially on the advice of Burley, and has featured prominently and surprised many with his form since the move. At 34, he has the experience, and has a World Cup qualifying goal on his resume, against Moldova in the last qualifiers, but some have suggested that the aging back line needs a bit more speed and a bit less experience. Still, his form and fitness have impressed at Rangers so far, and Burley has certainly noticed.

Unless an injury comes up, or his form takes a major nosedive, look for Dailly on that first Scotland roster.
